Understanding the relationship

Two separate organizations.
One clinical partnership.

If you found this page after looking at the Sana Therapy Collective website — welcome, and thank you for your interest. We want to be clear about how these two organizations relate to each other, because we know it can be confusing.

Magnolia and Sana are separate organizations. Magnolia is a nonprofit residential treatment center. Sana Therapy Collective is a private group therapy practice. They are not the same entity and operate independently.

The connection is Caitlin Billings — founder of Sana, who also serves as clinical consultant and supervisor at Magnolia. If you do an internship at Magnolia, you are placed at Magnolia, supervised by Caitlin, under the Sana supervision umbrella.

01

Group Facilitation

Interns facilitate six groups per week across Friday, Saturday, and Sunday. Groups cover a range of therapeutic topics relevant to recovery, trauma, parenting, and life skills — with supervision and support throughout.

02

Individual Sessions

Interns carry a small individual caseload, seeing clients one to two times per week. This provides direct clinical experience with complex, trauma-informed individual therapy in a residential setting.

03

Clinical Supervision

Individual and group supervision is provided by Caitlin Billings, LCSW — a BBS-approved clinical supervisor with 20 years of experience in trauma, substance use, and residential treatment. Supervision is rigorous, warm, and grounded in real clinical work.

Schedule & format

What a typical week looks like

Magnolia's internship runs on a Friday–Sunday schedule, which works well for students in programs with weekday class requirements. This is a residential setting, which means the work is immediate, real, and deeply meaningful.

This is not a passive placement. Interns are active members of the clinical team from the start — facilitating groups, carrying clients, and participating in the life of the program.

Who thrives here

This placement is for clinicians
who want to do real work

This work is hard, meaningful, and transformative — for clients and interns alike. We're looking for students who are ready for that.

About the supervision

Supervision at Magnolia is provided by Caitlin Billings — a clinical supervisor who has spent twenty years at the intersection of trauma, substance use, and the kind of complex clinical work that residential treatment demands.

Her supervision style is warm, direct, and grounded in the realities of working with vulnerable populations. She takes her supervisory role seriously — not as an administrative function, but as a genuine investment in the next generation of trauma-informed clinicians.

You will be challenged and supported in equal measure. Caitlin believes deeply in the capacity of her interns to grow — and she will push you toward your best clinical self while making sure you never feel alone in the work.
