About Caitlin

Twenty years in this field will teach you that healing isn't linear, that the most important thing a clinician can offer is genuine presence, and that building something — a practice, a community, a body of work — is itself an act of faith.

Caitlin Billings founded Sana Therapy Collective from a deep belief that trauma-focused care should be accessible, rigorous, and human. What started as a solo practice has grown into a multi-location group practice with six specialized clinicians serving the East Bay and beyond — and the work of building it has been as meaningful as any clinical hour she's ever sat in.

Her career spans court-mandated domestic violence groups, partial hospitalization programs, residential rehabilitation, substance use recovery, and complex trauma — with a particular clinical home base in sexual abuse, childhood trauma, and the intersection of trauma and addiction. She is EMDRIA Certified in EMDR and has spent years training others in trauma-informed approaches.

Today, Caitlin's focus is on the work that multiplies: supervising the next generation of trauma clinicians, consulting with organizations navigating complex clinical terrain, and writing — because stories are how we make sense of what we've lived through, and because the world needs more clinicians willing to tell the truth about their own.

Outside the practice, she is a published memoirist, speaker, and community builder whose writing explores the intersection of lived experience and clinical work. Her debut memoir, In Our Blood, is a multi-award winner published by She Writes Press. Her second memoir is in progress.
