Ever feel stuck—like you know what’s technically right, but you just can’t do it? Trauma can show up like this: tension, procrastination, or messy relationship struggles. I see it—not as something broken in you, but as your story finding its own way to show up.
In our work, we might play with scarves, drawings, or dramatic dialogues to help you witness your inner world in creative ways and to spark insights that words alone can’t.
I work with immigrants and first-generation folks to make sense of these experiences, especially if “mental health” wasn’t part of your upbringing and has left you doubting yourself. Nothing you bring is too small or too abstract—your experiences matter, and I’m here alongside you on this adventure.
Fengmei Li is a bilingual therapist who conducts sessions in both Mandarin Chinese and English. She is an immigrant from mainland China and brings both clinical training and lived experience to her work with clients navigating the intersection of culture, identity, and mental health.
Fengmei holds a Master of Arts in Counseling Psychology from the California Institute of Integral Studies (CIIS), with a concentration in Drama Therapy. She is one of very few therapists in the Bay Area trained in Drama Therapy — an expressive, embodied approach that uses creative modalities (movement, imagery, storytelling, and dramatic dialogue) to access and process what words alone sometimes can't reach.
She works particularly with immigrants, first-generation Americans, and people who grew up in communities where mental health was not openly discussed. She understands that starting therapy can feel strange, unfamiliar, or even culturally foreign — and she meets clients there, with patience and genuine curiosity.
Fengmei sees clients in-person at Sana's Fremont office and via telehealth throughout California. She works with adults, couples, and families.
